Synergy between health, work and education

The research programme focuses on examining the interdisciplinary connections between labour markets, entrepreneurship, health, economic prosperity, and sustainable development. It aims to expand and deepen scientific knowledge, promote the practical application of research findings, address the research needs of sectoral policies, and contribute to scientific advancement across three interconnected research areas:

1. Labour markets, work, and the working environment;

2. Health risks and quality of (working) life; and

3. Social challenges.

These areas will be investigated through a holistic and interdisciplinary approach that integrates economic, legal, ethical, health, psychosocial, informational, financial, and systemic perspectives. The research will also encompass sustainable development, social and societal innovation, social entrepreneurship, and the application of innovative research approaches and methodologies.

The central objective of the research programme is to provide comprehensive scientific and professional expertise within this interdisciplinary research field, secure additional national and international funding opportunities, and achieve research excellence through high-quality scientific publications. The establishment of an interdisciplinary research team reflects a commitment to the comprehensive identification, analysis, and resolution of complex contemporary societal challenges. At the same time, the interdisciplinary approach enhances research flexibility and responsiveness in addressing complex research topics and methodologies.

The programme’s contribution to scientific development lies in the generation of original scientific findings through a comprehensive analysis of the factors shaping the current state and future trends of labour markets, entrepreneurship, and healthcare systems, as well as the interrelationship between labour market dynamics and employee health. In particular, there is a notable gap in Slovenian scientific literature concerning the latter topic. The research findings on labour markets, entrepreneurship, and health will be of significant value not only from a scientific perspective but also for the design, implementation, management, and adaptation of public policies.

The results of the research programme will serve as a foundation for developing proposals for systemic solutions, policies, and measures across the interdisciplinary fields covered by the programme, thereby supporting evidence-based policymaking and sustainable socio-economic development.
